According to a recent U.S. Census Report, over 25 million children live apart from their biological fathers. This number represents nearly one third of all American children. Nearly 36% of Hispanic children and 27% of Caucasian children live apart from their fathers. African American children suffer disproportionately, with 65 - 70% living in households without their fathers.
It is a statistical fact that father absence has a direct connection to child poverty, high drop out rates, obesity, teen pregnancy, gang activity, substance abuse, health problems and difficulty with long-term relationships.
We invite you to register for our first annual conference, themed 'Strong Fathers, Strong Families - Building, Renewing and Healing the Connection'. Our theme lays the foundation for two full days of workshops and presentations that will motivate, inspire, and educate. We have invited local and national experts in effective practices, strategies and program development. The workshops will offer three learning tracks:
We will complete our two day conference with a banquet, 'All Star Dads Father-Daughter Award Banquet', on Friday evening to celebrate and honor local fathers. We will select a unique group of men who father their children in a variety of different relationships from the traditional in-tact family to fathers who face challenges like incarceration, unemployment, and more.
Join us to help promote healthy father-child relationships, address the social problems that result from "father absence" and strategize as to what we must do, as a community to ensure that every child has a father in his or her life.
